Gratitude sermon series ideas and Thanksgiving graphics

Gratitude title slide: red lettering over a torn-paper mountain scene with orange stars

November 2026 has four Sundays before Thanksgiving (the 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd), and Advent starts on the 29th. That's a four-week gratitude series with Thanksgiving week to close it out. Below are four series ideas, the graphics each needs, and the pieces for Thanksgiving week.

Series ideas

Psalms of thanks

Four psalms, one a week: Psalm 100 (enter his gates with thanksgiving), Psalm 103 (forget not all his benefits), Psalm 107 (let the redeemed say so) and Psalm 136 (his love endures forever). They're short and easy to read aloud, and each one makes a good verse graphic for social.

Thankful in everything

1 Thessalonians 5:18 says to give thanks in all circumstances. Spend four weeks on the hard ones: when you're waiting, when you've lost something, when you have plenty and when you have little. Philippians, written from prison, carries the last two weeks.

The one who came back

Luke 17: ten men healed, one came back to say thank you. A week each on the healing, the nine, the one, and what it looks like to be the one now. Good for a church that likes one story told slowly.

The grateful life

A practical series: gratitude at home, at work, with money and with your time. It lands the week before Thanksgiving dinner, when people will actually try it.

Graphics for a gratitude series

  • A title slide and a notes slide for each Sunday. Put the week's psalm or verse on the notes slide.
  • A verse post each week. One verse with the series art behind it, posted Monday.
  • A "what are you thankful for?" post. Ask people to answer in the comments. People answer this one.
  • A lower third with the week's title for the livestream.

Thanksgiving week

Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26. The week needs its own pieces:

  • A Thanksgiving service. If you hold one Wednesday night or Thursday morning, give it a title slide and a social post two weeks out.
  • Friendsgiving or a community meal. A social post with the date, what to bring and who it's for. Young adults and students especially.
  • Office hours. A plain "our office is closed Thursday and Friday" post saves the front desk a lot of phone calls.
  • Happy Thanksgiving. One short post on Thursday morning. A photo of your own people beats a stock turkey.
  • Thank your volunteers. The Sunday before or after, put a thank-you slide on screen with photos of the teams who serve every week.

Hand off to Advent

The Sunday after Thanksgiving is the first Sunday of Advent. Have the Advent art ready the week before, so the screens change the same weekend the season does. Our Advent sermon series ideas has six series with artwork.
